Allergenen info voor Artsen:
Hieronder vindt u informatie over het
InformAll project.

The European Union has commissioned a
concerted action project to promote the provision of visible, credible
food allergy information sources to a wide variety of stakeholders,
including general consumers, the agro-food industry (including primary
producers, manufacturers and retailers), allergic consumers, health
professionals and regulators.
The
project brings together clinicians, food chemists, social scientists,
allergy patient groups, food manufacturers and retailers from across
Europe, and from the USA.
It
is funded under the 5th Framework programme of the EU through the
Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources Key Action.
Full details of the project can be
found on the project web site @

ABOUT THE INFORMALL DATABASE
Welcome to the InformAll
Database! This database is being developed with funding from the
European Union (see
www.informall.eu.com)
and aims to supply credible information on allergenic foods. The final
database (due to be completed by the end of 2005) will have:
Summaries
about each food suitable for a wide readership together with
Technical information for specialists or the interested layperson,
which has been split into a section on the
clinical
characteristics of the allergy together
with biochemical
information about the components in foods that trigger allergies and are
known as allergens. This information
complements that available from
other databases,
most of which collect information on allergens especially their amino
acid sequences.
The first release is now available
publicly, and contains searchable technical information about plant
foods. This will be followed by technical information on allergenic
foods from animals (such as egg, milk etc.) together with the food
summaries. These will be available later in the year.
Allergy research is a rapidly
advancing area. There are always new reports of food allergies and
allergens. Thus, information in this database is subject to a review
process, which means there is a time-lag between a scientific
publication appearing and a database entry being compiled (see
details of plant foods to be added to the database).
Other information on food allergies
can be found on
www.foodallergens.info
together with a web-portal leading to other websites with credible
information on food allergies.
